Primary School Curriculum

At Australian Islamic College the curriculum fulfills the requirements of School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) and Department of Education.

Combined Curriculum of Primary

Curriculum is what we teach and what we teach impacts student learning. Here at the Australian Islamic college, we place a great emphasise on creating the best environment for your child. This is not only made possible by electing research based strategies, But ultimately understanding that the key is to have a balance of both, what to teach and how to teach it. Having the combination between curriculum and current teaching and learning methods and strategies creates the perfect balance to providing the best environment for student academic and wellbeing success.

The Australian Islamic College follows the Western Australian Curriculum which encompasses components of the Australian curriculum. This sets out the knowledge, understandings, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to acquire. The curriculum has a twenty-first century focus which includes three cross curriculum priorities and seven general capabilities. All three schools are required to follow the set programs design by curriculum experts. Educators do have the flexibility within their class to differentiate to meet the needs of their students.

In the primary we have both generalist teachers as well as specialist teachers. Students Participate in all eight learning areas as specified in the Australian Curriculum.
These learning areas include:

  • Health and Physical Education

  • Technologies

  • Languages – (Arabic Year 3-6)

We are also pleased to offer Quran and Islamic Studies which is also a compulsory subject offered at our school.

For assessment to be valid, valuable and fair, students are provided with clear information on what type of assessments will be used in their learning, when it will happen and the purpose. Multiple kinds of assessment data are collected by the school to assist teachers to make accurate and informed judgments about your child’s performance.
